Doreen Taylor is a classically trained singer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal performance from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT and a Masters degree in Opera performance from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She is extremely versatile with acclaimed professional performances in genres such as opera, rock, country, musical theater, jazz, swing/standards and pop. In addition to numerous leading operatic roles in many opera companies throughout the United States she has had lead roles in two Broadway national tour groups. Her musical theater company credits throughout the country are "Christine" in the Phantom of the Opera, "Mother" in Ragtime, “Magnolia” in Showboat, “Laurie” in Oklahoma!, “Kim” in Bye Bye Birdie, “Dorothy La Brock” in 42nd Street, “Maria” in West Side Story and “Maria” in The Sound of Music and operatic leading roles as “Abigail” in The Crucible, “Birdie” in Regina, “Magda” in La Rondine, “Suor Angelica” in Suor Angelica by Puccini, “Donna Anna” in Don Giovanni and “Juliette” in Romeo et Juliette. She originated the lead role of “Cunegonde” in Philadelphia’s Scottish Opera premiere of Candide where the Philadelphia Daily News critically acclaimed her as “an up and coming star…amazing” and the lead role of “Tytania” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream where the Philadelphia Inquirer stated, “She possesses the voice of an angel…flawless and beautiful”.
Growing up in a small town outside of Buffalo, NY, Doreen Taylor began professionally entertaining at a very young age and has been showcased in countless performing groups, including but not limited to, Spirit of Youth- an international singing and dancing tour group. She has performed the National Anthem for the AHL Philadelphia Phantoms, NHL New York Islanders, Hartford Whalers and Boston Bruins and minor league baseball team, the Buffalo Bisons. Doreen was the featured composer/soloist with the Golden State Pops Orchestra in Los Angeles and has performed extensively in Atlantic City Casinos and public venues, as well as private events, throughout the United States. Doreen Taylor debuted her first CD, "Unbreakable" to rave reviews and has had air play on several Philadelphia radio stations. She was also a featured solo singer in the "Smokin' Joe Frazier Revue" opposite the infamous ex-Heavy Weight Champion of the World, Joe Frazier. |
